Roche des Lumières
At every moment of our lives, we all have one foot in a fairy tale and the other in the abyss. — Paulo Coelho
Our 30-second spot kicking off the Roche des Lumières saga.
Welcome to Roche des Lumières, a collection of extraordinary wines from an enchanted part of the world known as the Loire Valley, located in the central/northwest region of France, just below Paris. Even for this storied country with all its incredible culture, history and topography, the Loire Valley stands out. It is included in UNESCO’s world heritage list, and it is referred to as the Cradle of the French and the Garden of France due to the abundance of vineyards and fruit orchards.

The Loire Valley is often divided into three sections. The Upper Loire includes the Sauvignon blanc dominated areas of Sancerre and Pouilly-Fumé. The Middle Loire is dominated by more Chenin blanc and Cabernet franc wines found in the regions around Touraine, Saumur, Chinon and Vouvray. The Lower Loire that leads to the mouth of the river’s entrance to the Atlantic goes through the Muscadet region which is dominated by wines of the Melon de Bourgogne grape.
The Loire river has a significant effect on the mesoclimate of the region, adding the necessary extra few degrees of temperature that allows grapes to grow when the areas to the north and south of the Loire Valley have shown to be unfavorable to viticulture.
Our selections from Roche des Lumières represent an exceptional value for this choice region.
Roche des Lumières Sancerre, Val de Loire, France
Grape: 100% Sauvignon Blanc. Tasting notes: This is probably the best expression of the Sauvignon Blanc varietal. Citrus, grapefruits, and tropical fruits. Sharp, acidity, and minerals. An extremely well-balanced wine. To drink with breakfast every morning.
Grape: 100% Pinot Noir. Tasting notes: Light on the eyes, deep and complex on the palate. These wines have the ability to be enjoyed as a summer wine at a BBQ or paired with a serious dish with complex sauces. Extremely small region and limited world-wide production.
Roche des Lumières Touraine Sauvignon Blanc Touraine France
Grape: 100% Sauvignon Blanc
Tasting notes: Citrus very accentuated on the nose. Hints of grapefruit with lots of minerals and acidity which is the main characteristic of the Touraine region.
Roche des Lumières Rosé Val de Loire France
A plump and smooth body with flavors of ripe strawberries and raspberries. This easy rosé goes well with most foods, especially after-work bites and Sunday brunches. There’s a tinge of spice that balances beautifully with the fruits and rich acidity.
Roche des Lumières Touraine Pinot Noir Touraine France
